Barcelona secures 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in preseason clash
In a pre-season friendly match at AT&T Stadium in Texas (USA), Barcelona easily defeated rival Real Madrid 3-0.
Barcelona fielded an attacking-oriented lineup with Pedri, Lewandowski, and Dembele tasked with scoring goals while the midfield quartet of Gundogan, Romeu, and De Jong controlled the middle.
On Real Madrid’s side, coach Ancelotti started the match with the striker pair of Vinicius and Rodrygo while Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga, and Bellingham provided support from behind.
Barcelona pressed from the start, in the 4th minute, new signing Romeu beautifully volleyed in the box but the ball hit the crossbar of Real Madrid’s goal. However, just over 10 minutes later, the Catalan club scored the opening goal.
Receiving the ball from a free kick on the right wing, Pedri made an intelligent pass to Dembele who was unmarked in the box. The former Dortmund star powerfully scored with a diagonal shot to the far post, giving Barcelona a 1-0 lead.
Real Madrid won a penalty in the 20th minute, but striker Vinicius Jr hit the crossbar. For the rest of the first half, both teams had more dangerous attacking chances but failed to convert them.
In the second half, Real Madrid tried to push forward to find an equalizer. They created a lot of pressure with many clear chances but Barcelona keeper Ter Stegen made great saves.
Failing to score, Real Madrid were punished. In the 85th minute, 20-year-old midfielder Fermin unleashed a powerful left-footed shot from outside the box that beat keeper Thibaut Courtois, doubling Barcelona’s lead to 2-0.
In the last minute of the match, it was Fermin who set up Ferran Torres to clinically finish and seal a 3-0 victory for Barcelona. Coach Xavi Hernandez’s squad convincingly defeated rivals Real Madrid in the El Clasico clash in the USA.
